Regional prosperity differences in Poland

An analysis of the RegioData purchasing power data allows an insight into the regional prosperity levels in Poland. Regarding economical dynamics only a few regions in Poland stand out.
Obviously these include Warsaw but also Krakow and Tri-City (Gdansk, Gdynia, Sopot). Unemployment rates in Poland also show a strong regional variation. Regarding the regional distribution of prosperity, Poland is remarkable if compared to other CEE countries. It shows an exceptionally large difference between urban and rural areas. In some cities the drop of prosperity levels in the surrounding areas is very abrupt. And only very few cities – e.g. Warsaw – have affluent suburbs which are very common around western european cities.
More detailed data regarding prosperity in Europe on various geographic levels (municipalities, post code areas) can be found in the RegioData Purchasing Power Data.
