The largest new shopping centers across Europe

Golden Babylon Rostokino, Dolce Vita Tejo or Forum Istanbul – these are the names of some of the largest shopping centers that opened accross Europe last year.
Spectacular openings of large shopping centers last year took place in cities like Moscow, Amadora, Istanbul, Zagreb, Cardiff, Krakow, Bucharest or Essen. In 2009 there were two openings in each of the two megacities Moscow and Istanbul: Golden Babylon Rostokino (Immoeast) and Metropolis (Capital Partners, Unibail-Rodamco) brought more than 200 000 sqm GLA on the market. Forum Istanbul (Multi Turkmall) and 212 Istanbul (Akin Holding) enlarged the shopping mall area of the Turkish capital by more than 150 000 sqm GLA. In the Portuguese city Amadora the center Dolce Vita Tejo delivered about 100 000 sqm GLA.
Consumers also attended the opening of a series of shopping centers with about 90 000 sqm GLA like West Gate in Zagreb, St. David`s in Cardiff or Bonarka City in Krakow. Cotroceni Park in Bucharest with about 76 000 sqm GLA was the largest shopping center opening in Romania last year. The second construction phase for the shopping mall Limbecker Platz in Essen was also finished, this mall has now about 70 000 sqm GLA. ECE, operator of this mall, says, Limbecker Platz is the largest inner-city shopping center in Germany.
