With about 20 000 sqm gross leasable area one cand find the largest hypermarkets in Eastern Europe in countries like Poland and Romania. In Russia the largest hypermarkets are about 18 000 sqm large, in Ukraine the largest hypermarket has about 17 000 sqm. In the Czech Republic the largest hypermarkets have about 14 000 sqm, in Croatia about 9 000 sqm at the most.

By contrast hypermarkets in the size 5 000 – 10 000 sqm gross leasable area are the appropriate formats for countries like Croatia and the Czech Republic.
