Best increase of productivity in the drugstore and perfumery sector

Strong increases and decreases – the development of productivity in the Austrian retail sector (turnover per sqm) varies strongly from branch to branch.

With a strong increase of 19% over a 5 years period the current turnover per sqm in the drugstore and perfumery retail sector lies at about 4 200 EUR. The DIY and furniture sector increased strongly as well (16% both). All three branches benefit from a line of goods with also more expensive products.

A turnover per sqm, which is also above the average, can be found in the electrical goods trade. With more than 6 000 EUR per sqm this sector has the highest productivity from all important branches. But when looking at the development of the past years the turnover per sqm in this sector decreased by 2%. With a decrease of more than 7% the productivity declined the most in the clothing and sports retail sector.
